As long as I can remember, Monet has by and far been my favorite artist. I remember learning about impressionism in elementary school, and it still has a lasting impact on my art today.
Recently, I have found myself craving the simplicity and line work that comes from works like Henri Matisse. Matisse was a French artist who was commonly associated with fauvism. Fauvism is the frequent use of bright colors in a work of art.
He specialized in flat shapes and clean lines. Add bright colors to that list, and it’s quickly becoming a favorite of mine - especially for interior decorating. A few of my favorite Matisse pieces are below.
